6 years since the enforced disappearance of Zakir Majeed, a university student and student leader abducted on June 8, 2009, in Mastungโ€™s Piring Abad, Balochistan.

He was taken by personnel believed to be from intelligence agencies while travelling with two friends, Waheed and Basit, who were later released. Zakir, however, has not been seen since. At the time, Zakir was pursuing a Masterโ€™s in English Literature.

His family and friends have spent the last 16 years searching tirelessly for answers, filing police reports, submitting court petitions, organizing protests, and marching from Quetta to Islamabad.

Yet, the state has offered only denial and silence. Zakirโ€™s abduction is particularly unjust, given that he had played a vital role in the safe recovery of a kidnapped UN envoy in Balochistan in 2009. Despite this, local institutions have failed, and international human rights bodies remain ineffective.
