Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, the acting minister of telecommunications and information technology, announced during a visit to Paktia that 550 new telecommunication sites have been approved across the country.
Haqqani said that with the activation of these telecommunication sites, residents of remote areas will have access to telecommunication services.
These sites will be established by various telecommunication networks operating in the country.
The acting minister also said: “In our new project, we have planned for 550 sites across the country. You mentioned Paktika province, out of these sites, 74 have been approved for the center and remote districts of Paktika.”
Meanwhile, some residents of Paktia are demanding improvements in the quality of telecommunication services and the expansion of coverage in the province.
Mohammad Rahman Samkani, a resident of Paktia, told “The sites that are going to be established are a positive step, and hopefully with their setup, previous problems will be resolved to some extent.”
Eisa Khan, another resident of Paktia, said: “These new sites will be very useful for remote areas where the internet and even mobile phone SIM cards do not work properly.”
According to information from the ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 48 sites have been allocated for Paktia province and 74 for Paktika province, which will be installed in the centers and districts of these provinces.
