A group of young female artists in Herat have organized an exhibition to showcase their creative works.

These artists say their pieces reflect the history of Herat and the capabilities of girls in the province. They are calling on both the public and the government to support artists, especially young women.

More than 70 pieces of art were displayed at the exhibition.

Fawzia Saeedi, the organizer of the event, told “Because of the restrictions created by the current situation, it has become more difficult for Afghan girls and women to express the talents and art they have.”

Sabna Noori, a painter, said: “The reason I participated in this exhibition is so that my art and work can be seen, and our talents supported.”

Madina Mohammadi, a painter from Herat, said: “Our request is for opportunities to be created so that we can sell our artworks.”

Many of these girls turned to art after being deprived of access to school and university. They are now using their creative expressions not only for themselves but also to send a message of hope and encouragement to other girls and women.

Maryam, a visitor to the exhibition, said: “Events like this can be a source of motivation both for the artists and the public. People can enjoy the artwork and purchase them at reasonable prices to beautify their homes.”

For many of these young women, art has become a way to express their emotions and capabilities.
