The ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation announced that they have distributed nearly 50,000 electronic cards to drivers of taxis, buses and trucks.
Hikmatullah Asifi, the spokesperson for the ministry, told that the e-cards will ensure the safety of passengers, enhance the quality of travel and bring further transparency in the transportation system.
“The e-cards are given to the drivers of taxis, buses and trucks in Kabul and other provinces. These cards are important for the safety of passengers, safe trips and tracking the cars. So far, nearly 50,000 of these cards have been distributed to drivers across the country,” the spokesperson said.
Asifi also said that these cards are important for the identification of drivers as well.
Drivers in Kabul welcomed the distribution of the cards, saying that the initiative will create order in cities and rural areas.
Javid, a driver in Kabul told “The cards given to us are important to track our cars and will prohibit the theft of cars.”
Another driver in Kabul, Ajmal said, “This is a better initiative, all drivers should have their cards.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation said that they have installed 8,000 GPS devices in passenger cars and trucks and that the process is still ongoing.
