The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Jamal Nasir Gharwal, the acting ambassador of the Islamic Emirate in Russia, participated in the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues.

The head of public relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zia Ahmad Takal, stated that Gharwal spoke at the conference about recent security developments and achievements in Afghanistan and their regional and global implications.

The head of public relations at the ministry said: “Jamal Nasir Gharwal, the acting ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Moscow, participated in the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues. He also spoke at the forum about recent security developments and achievements in Afghanistan and the impact of these developments at the regional and international levels.”

Mohammad Zalmai Afghanyar, a security affairs expert, said: “All countries act based on their political and economic interests. Russia also interacts with Afghanistan based on such considerations. At times, Afghanistan appears on the international stage as a country isolated from the global community, and at other times, it appears as a deprived nation.”

At the opening of the conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized peace and stability in regional countries.

Putin further stated that regional security issues should be resolved within the frameworks of regional forums and processes.

Vladimir Putin said: “We believe that the foundation for creating such a universal security system could be the existing and well-established multilateral cooperation formats, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and others.”

The 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, attended by senior security officials from BRICS member states, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, began on May 27 and is scheduled to continue tomorrow.
