The Afghan Red Crescent Society, in cooperation with an international charitable organization, has launched a four-day eye treatment campaign in Kabul.

According to the coordination officer of the charity, during this period, 5,000 patients will be examined, and eye surgeries will be performed for 400 to 500 individuals.

Officials from the Afghan Red Crescent have called for greater cooperation from institutions and businessmen with the organization.

Rizwan Ahmad Baloch, the coordination officer of the charity foundation, stated: “In our current camp in Kabul, we will examine up to 5,000 patients, distribute glasses to 1,000 patients, and conduct 400 to 500 eye surgeries. We plan to establish a hospital under the umbrella of the Afghan Red Crescent Society that will provide permanent free surgical services and offer training opportunities to Afghan doctors.”

Azizurrahman, the deputy of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, said: “The Red Crescent is ready to fully cooperate with all the resources at its disposal. God willing, we will support them in implementing any project they wish to carry out.”

In one of the crowded hallways of the Afghan Red Crescent Hospital in Kabul, an elderly man with a cane, suffering from a retinal condition, waits for his examination.

Jamaluddin, one of the patients, said: “The doctors conducted our examinations, and the results showed our issue is related to the retina. They gave us a document indicating the tests had been done, and after that, a date will be set for surgery.”
