At the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) meeting of security council secretaries, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov emphasized that ongoing developments in Afghanistan require continuous, careful monitoring to ensure regional stability.
Japarov highlighted the importance of unified approaches among regional countries on security matters. He stated: “It’s essential to evaluate the current situation with caution and realism and take joint preventive steps to strengthen regional stability. An effective, comprehensive, and systematic solution to security issues will positively impact the quality of life of our people.”
Previously, at the second China–Central Asia summit near Nur-Sultan, he expressed active support for global efforts to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Political analyst Nisar Ahmad Shirazi told “Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian nations understand that regional peace depends heavily on peace in Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s geopolitical position politically, intellectually, and militarily is crucial for the security of these countries.”
Analyst Mohammad Zalmai Afghanyar said: “Instead of merely monitoring, they should cooperate with Afghanistan. The country focuses on non-interference governance, security, and economic-driven policy. What more does the region want from Afghanistan? A stable Afghanistan can play a stronger role in global security.”
Kyrgyzstan was the second country, after Kazakhstan, to remove the Islamic Emirate from its blacklist in late 2023. Over the past three years, it has maintained good economic relations with the interim Islamic government.
