The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the acceptance of the credentials of the Islamic Emirate’s Consul General in Dubai.
In an official statement, the ministry reported that the credentials of Abdul Rahman Fida, the new Consul General of the Islamic Emirate in Dubai, were accepted in an official meeting at the ministry.
A part of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement reads: “H.E. Sheikh Maktoum bin Butti Al Maktoum welcomed the Consul General and congratulated him on his appointment, wishing him success in his duties, and commended the strong political, economic, commercial, and investment ties.”
Ahmad Khan Andar, an international relations expert, stated: “It is clear that this will have a positive influence on other neighboring countries, the region, and the world, paving the way for better political engagement between Afghanistan and the international community.”
Some political analysts believe such diplomatic actions by countries like the UAE may signal a gradual inclination toward recognizing the caretaker government.
Fazl Rahman Oria, a political affairs analyst, also said: “The world, especially Asian countries and particularly our neighboring states, are gradually moving toward recognizing the Afghan government, each following its unique path—some accept ambassadors, others engage diplomatically—all ultimately aiming at official recognition of the Afghan government.”
Saleem Paigir, another political affairs analyst, remarked: “Naturally, all these developments are in favor of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and suggest that the world is increasingly engaging with the Islamic Emirate.”
Currently, China, the UAE, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan have officially accepted ambassadors from the Islamic Emirate. Additionally, countries such as Iran, Turkmenistan, Russia, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Turkey have accepted Islamic Emirate diplomats at the consul or chargé d’affaires level.
Whether this trend signifies the Islamic Emirate’s approach toward international recognition remains to be seen.
